Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a copy of my immunization records in Ontario?
In Ontario, immunization records from childhood are held by local public health units. For Peel Region residents, the Peel Public Health unit maintains records of publicly funded childhood vaccines. You can request records through Peel Public Health. Private vaccines (travel vaccines, Gardasil, flu shots from private clinics) are held by the clinic that administered them. At Peel Travel Clinic, we provide official vaccination records for all vaccines we administer, including Yellow Fever ICVP certificates.
Do I need vaccination records for travel?
For most international travel from Canada, you do not need to carry vaccination records. However, yellow fever certificate (ICVP/yellow card) is required for entry to many countries in Africa and South America — and must be the official document. Some countries ask for proof of other vaccines. For work travel, immigration, or school enrollment, you may need official documentation of your full vaccination history. Meningococcal vaccination proof is required by many US and UK universities for enrollment.
What is a yellow fever vaccination certificate and where do I get one?
The yellow fever vaccination certificate (ICVP — International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis) is an internationally recognized document issued only by designated vaccination centres. It is a yellow booklet (also called the "yellow card") that certifies you have received the yellow fever vaccine. It is valid for life (as of 2016 WHO regulations). Peel Travel Clinic is a designated yellow fever vaccination centre and can issue official ICVP certificates when you receive the vaccine at our clinic.
Can I get vaccinations for school enrollment or employment at Peel Travel Clinic?
Yes — we provide vaccinations and documentation for school enrollment, employment requirements, and university admission. We can administer MMR, Varicella (chickenpox), Hepatitis B, Tdap, Meningococcal, and other vaccines required by schools or employers. We can also order serology (blood tests) to confirm immunity to specific diseases if required by your institution. Bring your school or employer health requirements form and we will complete and stamp it.
I need a TB test for immigration or employment — can you do this at Peel Travel Clinic?
Yes — we perform TB skin tests (Mantoux/TST) for immigration medicals, employment screening, and healthcare worker requirements. We also offer QuantiFERON Gold IGRA blood tests as an alternative to the skin test. TB testing requires two visits (skin test placed on day 1, read at 48–72 hours). Contact our clinic to book both appointments.
